Solenoid is a conductive wire that is insulated and wound on a metallic rod or tube. This acts as an electromagnet as well as sensor, which produces an electromagnetic field when current is passed through it. It is long and has substantial number of windings. This concept is efficiently implemented in solenoid-driven metering pumps. It is use an electromagnetic coil to trigger or actuate the movement of either plunger or diaphragm mechanism.
