Carlon’s Universal Remote, A31UR, provides a remote readout of the number of pulse contacts coming from an electric contacting head water meter with dry contact mechanical reed switch or gas meter that outputs dry contact or generator pulse. The A31UR comes in a NEMA-4 box and a UV protected LCD display that can be exposed to the sun. The complete system consists of an electric contacting water meter remotely connected by means of a low voltage two-conductor wire sent from the water meter to the Universal Remote. The A31UR display will show the measuring value; gallons, cubic feet or liters/cubic meters and the units per pulse.

Installation Insructions:

  1. Locate the counter in a convenient location. If outdoors, note temperature range.
  2. Wire counter to the electric contact meter using two conductor wire.
  3. It is recommended that the counter be kept away from solenoids, contactors, fans, and other inductive devices.
  4. The counter advances 1 digit for each contact received from the meter. To read the counter, multiply the reading by the gallon per contact setting on the meter. (Example: A meter set to 10 GPC (gallons per contact) will send a contact to the remote every 10 gallons so the reading on the remote must be multiplied by 10. See right side of display for contact ratio.
  5. If the contact meter being used to control this counter is also sending a signal to another device, a signal splitter is required. An electric contacting meter can generate only one dry contact unless a PP101 power pack (signal splitter) is used. Contact Carlon Meter for assistance.
