Photometer

Water quality analysis is performed in commercial, residential, and industrial facilities to determine the right water treatment method. Water quality analysis is performed using various instruments such as photometers and colorimeters. These devices determine the concentration of different inorganic and organic compounds in water from the color density. If you wish to buy a photometer online look no further!

At Cannon Water, we stock a wide range of water quality photometers from leading brands. These photometers have been successfully used for a wide range of water tests all these years owing to their dependability. We assure competitive prices and the fastest turnaround times in the industry.

Working of Photometers Explained

Photometers are designed to detect the presence of nitrates, radionuclides, heavy metals, phosphates, pesticides, and fluorides in water. These devices feature five elements – a white light source, wavelength control, sample collection compartment, meter, and detector.

  • The white light emitted by the light source is filtered using wavelength control.
  • The filtered wavelength is made to pass through the sample in the collection compartment.
  • Color density is sensed by the detector that works with the meter to display the absorbed light values.

Electrophotometers and spectrophotometers are two types of photometers used for water quality testing. These instruments differ

  • Electrophotometers: They use simple optical filters that are designed for specific wavelengths. The filters are usually designed for measuring the color density of a particular constituent, so, they need to be changed if you are measuring another constituent. Electrophotometers are commonly used for measuring the quantity of nitrate and chlorine constituents in water.
  • Spectrophotometers: They use diffraction grating or a prism for wavelength filtering. Among these two types of photometers, spectrophotometers are widely used because they use the same filter or prism to measure the color density of different constituents. The wavelength of filtered light can be altered easily by changing the prism’s angle.

Working of Colorimeters Explained

Colorimeters also work similar to photometers but slightly differ in their design. They use a light source, filter, mirrors, lenses, and slit, and a photocell for measuring the concentration of constituents in the water. The light of a specific wavelength is made to pass through the solution containing constituents. This light strikes on the photocell and thus, the absorbed light and output is determined.

Features of Photometers and Colorimeters Offered by Us

Our commitment to quality can be easily understood by the brands we associate with. The products that we offer are designed keeping specific application requirements in mind. Being at the forefront of water treatment technologies for several years, we understand the water treatment requirements across industries. Most products listed in this category or other categories have been chosen for their typical features that most customers find advantageous. The following are a few common features of photometers offered by us that most customers find beneficial.

  • Our photometers are offered as hand-held devices and can be easily connected to tablets and smartphones using Bluetooth for smart data transfer.
  • Some models are sold individually or as a part of the test kit.
  • These devices minimize the chances of human errors and incorporate results with time stamp, date, and location.
  • Some models come with a one-time zero function, which means you do not need to zero the device after every test.
  • All devices feature an advanced menu system that guides users to choose the right test method for measuring the concentration of particular constituents.
